  • Avec: one of our favorite restaurants in the city featuring mediterranean food and a kinetic atmosphere, order the dates, focaccia (with honey) and all the vegetables

  • Black Dog Gelato: wonderful gelato with interesting flavor profiles

  • Cafe Marie Jeanne: good for brunch or dinner, wonderful wine list

  • Dove’s Luncheonette: tex-mex counter service diner with good cocktails and lots mezcal

  • Elske: creative American fare with Danish influences, save room for dessert

  • Fat Rice: globally inspired Macanese restaurant and bakery, also happens to be very dietary restriction-friendly

  • Floriole Cafe & Bakery: excellent housemade breads and pastries, along with cafe fare

  • Giant: simple Midwestern food, delightfully unpretentious

  • JP Graziano: old school Italian sandwiches

  • Lula Cafe: an institution, best brunch in town

  • Parachute: modern Korean-American food

  • Pizzeria Bebu: some of the best (non-deep dish) pizza in the city

  • Portillo’s: for your hotdog or Italian beef fix (Chicago's version of In-N-Out/Shake Shack)

  • Rootstock Wine & Beer Bar: phenomenal wine bar with exceptional food, let your bartender guide your wine selection

  • Hopewell Brewing: our favorite brewery in the city, the taproom is airy, easy going and good for big groups

  • Ludlow Liquors: Avondale tavern with cocktails by the ounce, great blue collar creative food

  • MoneyGun: great patio and super cute divey interior

  • Scofflaw: the perfect neighborhood bar combining excellent cocktail program with low key vibes

  • Sportsman's Club: great neighborhood bar with a stellar patio, cash-only

  • Metric Coffee Co.: wonderful local coffee roasters, flagship cafe in West Town

  • Sawada: known for matcha lattes, they also have Doughnut Vault (the best doughnuts in town)
